Top features

Everything a ride needs, on one map.

Plan rides the way you ride

Pick a mode for each leg and the route follows your mood.

  • Car: plain sat-nav routing.
  • Moto: twisty, hilly, paved backroads, with a slider from Efficient to Scenic. It stays on asphalt.
  • Adventure: gravel, forest tracks and paths, from fast rally gravel to technical enduro.
  • Fastest: whatever gets you there soonest.

See the asphalt and gravel split before you go, switch motorways and singletrack on or off, or import a GPX track.

Turn-by-turn, with your own bike in 3D

Voice guidance, live speed and the posted limit, on a 3D map with terrain and buildings. Your bike sits on your GPS position and leans with the phone's motion sensors.

Navigation keeps going with the screen off and shows on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island. Download a route with its map and ride it in airplane mode.

A Dark map for night riding

A high-contrast map for night and glare. Choose Standard, Dark, or Auto, which turns dark from sunset to sunrise.

A rider rating built from physics

Your on-road and off-road skill comes from grip physics and your tyres, not from likes. Each ride counts once, wherever it came from, and car trips never count.

Compare with friends on the Skill leaderboard, next to distance boards, challenges and badges.

Every ride analysed

A speed-coloured track, lean left and right, cornering, elevation, heart-rate zones and the surface mix, for every ride.

Friends on the map

See which friends are riding right now, and where they were last seen. Share rides with photos in a friends-only feed. Add friends by @username or QR code.

Privacy zones hide the places you choose, and one switch stops sharing your location.

Group rides Next version When friends meet up, start one ride together: one route, one GO for everyone, and everybody's position on the way.
The Feed with the friends strip: invite, a friend riding now at 59 km/h, and a friend's shared ride

Record rides, or bring your Garmin

One tap records a ride, with the phone on the bar or in a pocket. It works offline, syncs later and survives a restart.

Connect Garmin once and your motorcycle rides flow in on their own. Export any ride as GPX, TCX or FIT.

Rally roadbooks

Drive a recon and the roadbook builds itself on the phone, offline: tulips, distances, CAP headings and dangers.

Edit every entry, export as OpenRally GPX, GPX, printable PDF or JSON, or ride it with a trip odometer and live CAP.

Make the bike yours

Keep a garage of every bike you own and pick the look and colour it wears on the map. Invite a rider and unlock the dragon.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is it free?

Yes. Ride Beyond is free to download and everything in it is free while the app grows. There are no ads.

Which countries does it cover?

The map covers the world. Route planning, search and turn-by-turn navigation cover 35 countries of mainland Europe, from Portugal and Spain to Estonia and Greece. The full list is in the FAQ.

Is it iPhone only?

Today Ride Beyond is on the App Store for iPhone. There is no Android version on Google Play yet. You can plan routes in a browser at ride-beyond.duckdns.org/app, without navigation.

Do I need a Garmin?

No. The app records rides with the phone alone. If you have a Garmin, connect it once in Profile, Garmin and your motorcycle rides come in on their own. Your Garmin password goes straight to Garmin and never to us.

Does it work offline?

Yes, where it matters. Download a route with its map corridor and navigate it in airplane mode. Recording works without signal and syncs when you are back online. Planning a new route needs a connection.

How much battery does it use?

The screen stays on while the app is open, like any riding sat-nav, so charge the phone on the bike for long rides. When the battery runs low the 3D map switches to 2D. Outside a ride, leaving the app stops GPS.

What data do you keep, and can I delete my account?

Your account, your rides and what you choose to share with friends, to run the app for you. It is stored in the EU and never sold. Profile, Settings, Delete account removes your account and all its data. The full list is in the Privacy Policy.

How do invites and the dragon work?

Share your invite link from the Feed, or have a new rider name your @username when they sign up. When they finish their first ride of 1 km or more, the Chinese dragon look for your bike is yours, and the two of you are friends.

How do group rides work?

Group rides come in the next version. When friends who share their location meet up, the app offers to ride together: one route, one GO for everyone, and everybody's position and arrival on the way. Nothing is shared inside your privacy zones, and leaving the group stops sharing at once.

Who makes it?

Ioan Grozea, an independent developer and rider in Romania. Write to ioan.grozea@gmail.com.
